Mobility management can take many forms. Step Ahead Mobility can help you assess needs in a holistic way, all in the interest of maximizing the needs of comfort and moving around.

The equipment in this section is designed to assist moving and resting within the home, as well as moving mobility equipment between locations. We offer a wide array of equipment beyond what’s shown below.

HOSPITAL BEDS

Tier 2 Hospital beds

These beds are a step up from the basic Tier 1 hospital beds. They typically have 4 motors, which enables not just the standard 3 functions of a hospital bed (upper body, legs, bed raise) but also advanced positions like Trendelenburg (feet above head), Reverse Trendelenburg, chair position and more. All in a very solid bed with smooth quiet operation. We work with all the major brands, including Span, Joerns, Invacare, Med-Mizer, Medline and more.

Tier 1 Hospital Beds

These beds are highly functional and a great value. They have the core functions that are needed in a hospital bed (raise the upper body, raise the legs, raise the bed) at a reasonable price. We work with the major brands such as Drive, Probasics, Invacare and others.

Drive 5-Zone Therapeutic Mattress

While we can offer a full array of mattresses, our go-to is the Drive 5-Zone Therapeutic mattress. With blue washable cover, multi-layer foam body and egg crate topper, this mattress provides excellent support while being gentle on skin.

VEHICLE LIFTS

Power wheelchair lifts

The adjustable bars on these lifts conform to wheel position on the chair to provide excellent stability. We work with all the major brands, including Span, Joerns, Invacare, Med-Mizer, Medline and more.

Universal lifts

The combination of large platform, wheel anchoring bar and retractable Q'Straint hooks lets this lift handle scooters and power chairs.

Manual wheelchair lifts

Lifts are available for manual wheelchairs, which can be too heavy and awkward to repeatedly lift into a vehicle.

Non-motorized scooter lifts

A great (and economical) alternative to a motorized lift is a manual lift. It is relatively easy to maneuver, has great weight capacity, installs easily, and folds out of the way when not in use!

Portable lifts

Sometimes a foldable power chair or scooter is just too heavy to lift into a vehicle. The GoLite lift can raise up to 100 lbs to your vehicle's cargo level, and then collapse to a very small, lightweight size (25 lbs).

Stair lifts

A stairlift can add huge improvement to quality of life. We go to your home, take measurements, and provide a custom estimate at no charge. Our installers have extensive experience and will fix any issues for free during the first year.

Mobile Stairlift

For certain situations a stair-climbing wheelchair can be the perfect solution. Tank-like treads in the back provide the power to go up or down stairs. The operator guides the chair from up the stairs.

This has benefited customers where a ramp was too expensive and disruptive, as well as where they were renting their living space and couldn't install a stairlift.

We carry a large array of standard wheelchairs, from 14" pediatric chairs to 22" chairs (and can get others on order).

Rollators have hand brakes and a seat for resting, and are a great way to get around. We carry a variety of rollators, including some that double as transport chairs.

Upright walkers

Upright walkers have the physical benefits of good posture and fall prevention, and the psychological benefit of being able to look people in the eye!
